I have decided to sell Bull LR 2-2015, “Hans”. He is red, polled and slick and well bred. Hans was an AI calf – sired by a Senepol bull (WC 950K) from Anally Farms on St. Croix Island. His sire has been used extensively as a heifer bull. In addition, his maternal grand sire was a Red Angus bull who was purchased in 2012 from Pharo Cattle Company. Han’s actual birth weight was 77 pounds and 205-day adjusted weaning weight was 552 pounds. His EPDs are -3.51 (.69) for birth weight, -19.8 (.55) for weaning weight, and -1.37 (.23) for milk. He has a small to moderate frame size and weighs approx. only 1200 pounds. In summer of 2016 he passed a fertility test and was turned out with about 20 cows. I plan to select several of his lighter-colored calves for future breeding.
Breeding Hans to large cows will improve efficiency or to cows with limited heat tolerance ability – this will be enhanced. As well, he is expected to produce smaller calves at birth because of his larger and negative EPD for birth weight. This bull is also very gentle. The main reason for selling him is that beginning this year all Star bulls must be lighter colored to confer additional heat tolerance ability and external parasite resistance. The chart below shows his breeding and photos of his ancestors. Interested buyers can make an offer.
